The Queenstown Attorneys firm known as ELLIOTT BROTHERS decided in 1910 to also offer the farming community an Auctioneering service for their Livestock and the firm of ELLIOTT BROTHERS AUCTIONEERS AND SWORN APPRAISERS was established by Mr. E.C. (Ted) Elliott.
At sales during that time Cattle were herded together by herdsmen and offered to Butchers, Cattle speculators and Livestock buyers in groups.
In 1911 the business had progressed to conducting sales in pens at the Border Agricultural Society Show grounds where cattle were sold and paint branding in a branding race introduced, after which the cattle were then held in the holding pens before being delivered to the buyers.
From 1910 regular monthly sales commenced at Queenstown and Molteno.
1910 to 2011 has witnessed many changes to the Livestock industry but ELLIOT BROTHERS AUCTIONEERS still remain the trusted group, rendering a RELIABLE service to the farming community.
